Avellino – A new episode of violence has shaken the prison of Avellino: yesterday, a prison police officer was attacked and beaten by inmates locked up in the isolation ward.
The incident was reported by Emilio Fattorello, national councilor of Osapp, who emphasized how the situation inside the penitentiary institute is now at the limit.
According to the union representative, the inmates forced the officer to leave the section, hitting him with numerous kicks. The victim suffered injuries that required hospitalization with a prognosis of seven days.
Fattorello has long been denouncing the lack of personnel and the difficulties in ensuring order and security within the prison. Despite the arrival of new officers, the situation remains critical due to the numerous absences due to illness.
Meanwhile, disciplinary proceedings continue against some officers involved in escapes and assaults. Osapp estimates that there are about forty open cases, some of which could lead to dismissal.
