The Prefecture of Naples today released data on the enforcement of the new Highway Code in the metropolitan city, highlighting a sharp increase in fines and restrictive measures. In 2024, 135 licenses were revoked for improper use of cell phones while driving, a dangerous practice increasingly monitored by law enforcement. In addition, 17 licenses were revoked for driving while impaired.
The overall violations of the Highway Code they surpassed the 50 thousand reports, For a total of 133 million euro of high fines. Particularly worrying is the increase in withdrawals of driving licenses for drunk driving: with an increase of 23% compared to the previous year, the total reached 3412 penalties.
On the front of illegal parking attendants, notices have been issued 320 confiscation orders for money, with the announcement of further restrictive measures to combat the phenomenon. Reports of drug use are also increasing, reaching a total of 5332, marking an increase in 7% compared to 2023.

It is important that the authorities control the use of the phone while driving, but I think that the numbers shown are a bit alarming. Also regarding the licenses withdrawn for drunkenness, more awareness campaigns should be done.
