Naples - It went as expected by the parents, family, friends and all the citizens of Naples who were asking for justice: Francesco Pio Valda was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of the innocent pizza chef from Pianura, Francesco Pio Maimone.
Over two hours of deliberation by the judges who accepted the request for the maximum sentence formulated by the prosecutor of the Dda from Naples, Antonella Fratello.
Francesco Pio Maimone, the aspiring pizza chef was shot dead on the night between March 19 and 20, 2023, on the city's seafront, at the height of an argument to which he had no part.
“He was 20 years old in March 2023 when the murder occurred,” said lawyer Iavarone, who is defending the victim’s family, concluding his speech. “Valda is young, he has spoken, he has a clean criminal record, he has no final sentences.”
The lawyer of valda instead, he had asked, among other things, the judges of the First Assize Court, to exclude the aggravating circumstance of futile reasons, the exclusion of the aggravating circumstance of Camorra and the acquittal with the formula "the fact does not exist".
“I don’t want Valda to be pardoned,” Iavarone continued, “I don’t want you to be lenient, but you have the weight of this decision and you cannot ignore it. Your job is to establish whether the evidence at your disposal can justify the maximum sentence. This defense attorney believes not.”
