NAPLES – The escalators in Ventaglieri Park reopen to the public today , returning a completely renovated and functional structure to the public: the Municipality of Naples announced this in an official statement.
Located in the heart of the Montesanto neighborhood , Ventaglieri Park is a landmark for the area, connecting the lower part of the neighborhood with the areas of Piazza Gesù e Maria and Piazza Mazzini . It contains a soccer field, large green areas, and a building used for public functions. The complex is served by an elevator and ten escalators, which needed to be replaced due to the expiration of their service life.
The work, which began in March 2024, required significant technical and logistical commitment, as highlighted by Palazzo San Giacomo: "The accessibility and movement of the systems represented a complex challenge, overcome thanks to the professionalism of the technicians involved ." After the completion of the work last November, Ansfisa (the National Agency for the Safety of Railways and Road and Motorway Infrastructures) conducted the acceptance tests, granting the green light on January 9, 2025.
Councilor for Mobility, Edoardo Cosenza , expressed his satisfaction with the result: "I am extremely happy to announce the reopening of the escalators in Ventaglieri Park. This infrastructure not only makes getting around easier, but also represents our commitment to increasingly sustainable mobility. I thank everyone who contributed to this project. I am confident that these escalators will improve accessibility and further enhance one of our city's most beautiful parks . "
