It was almost midnight when the Carabinieri of the Giugliano mobile radio unit noticed a tanker truck filling up with fuel on Via San Francesco in Patria: a seemingly normal operation, but one that aroused the officers' suspicions due to the unusual context and time of day.
They decide to intervene and stop the two men present near the vehicle just as one of them tries to get rid of a pack of cigarettes, throwing it in a trash can.

Giugliano enters the church during mass and starts playing the drum in protest.
The search on site and the analysis of the receipts issued revealed that the two had already used some of the cloned cards to load fuel worth 1800 euros into the tanker. The perpetrators, a 30-year-old and a 28-year-old both already known to the police, were arrested and subsequently placed under house arrest.
Law enforcement is now trying to reconstruct the network behind this illegal operation, which could be linked to a broader system of fraud with cloned cards. The episode demonstrates once again the importance of controls on the territory, which are essential to combat crimes that, as in this case, could have generated significant economic damage.
