The archaeological group “Terramare 3000” of Poggiomarino celebrates two decades of activities focused on the promotion and protection of archaeological heritage, combining them with a significant commitment to social issues.
To celebrate this important milestone, a dinner was organized that offered tastings of ancient recipes, in an event that saw the participation of volunteers, activists and experts in the cultural sector. The celebration took place at the Social Center on Via San Francesco in Poggiomarino.
Commitment to cultural preservation
The “Terramare 3000” group originated as a spontaneous committee with the aim of preserving the archaeological area of Longola, a site discovered during excavations for the construction of a purification plant along the middle Sarno, in 2000. This discovery is of primary importance for the protohistory of Campania. Thanks to the collaboration with various voluntary associations, the group initially defended the site from being buried and then promoted it through various initiatives.
Collaborations and projects
Over the years, “Terramare 3000” has established collaborations with various local and regional bodies, taking an active part in numerous cultural and social projects. Among the projects carried out are “Viaggio nell'Antica Terra dei Sarrastri”, “Campania Felix”, “Cool – tour in Valle”, and “Campus Fuoriclasse”. The organization has also focused on activities ranging from reducing school dropouts to popular archaeology workshops, guided tours, conferences and photography exhibitions.
The most recent project, “Campus Sostenibile,” was developed together with four schools and three family homes to support children in difficult situations, unaccompanied minors and those serving criminal sentences. “These have been twenty intense years, during which we hope to have contributed to the growth of Poggiomarino and the cultural heritage of the Sarno Valley and Vesuvius,” said Linda Solino, president of the group. The hope is to continue to improve the territory, rich in resources.

I read the article and I think that what the Terramare 3000 group does is important. The protection of archaeological heritage is fundamental for our culture, but there are many things to improve, especially in schools.
