The fifth edition of "Cinemagma," a major independent film festival held at the Sala Molière theater in Pozzuoli, opens today. The event, which will run until February 5th, will take place every Wednesday at 20:30 PM and is free to attend.
Created to give space to emerging talents in Italian cinema, the festival is curated by film historian Giuseppe Borrone and focuses on short films and underground films that escape the mainstream cinema circuit.
Jury and Awards
A qualified jury will award prizes for best short film, best actor, best actress, in memory of Cetty Sommella, and best editing, dedicated to Raimondo Crociani. Director Giovanni Dota will preside over the jury, supported by industry personalities such as actresses Miriam Candurro and Adele Pandolfi, editor Davide Franco and journalist Ilaria Urbani. The public will also have an active role, being able to vote for the audience award.
Programming and Prime Time
Over the first four evenings, 16 selected short films will be screened, complemented by discussions and interviews. The final evening on February 5th will include the awards ceremony and a tribute to Pozzuoli with the out-of-competition documentary "Pret' a mmare" by Francesco Guardascione. Finalist works include titles such as "L'acquario" by Gianluca Zonta and "La notte è un giorno dispari" by Vincenzo Giordano.
The first evening's program includes screenings of films such as "Flowers Bloom in Naples," "Fucking Boobs and Hands on the Ground," "Ho Ballato di Tutto," and "La Giustiziazione." These films will offer audiences the opportunity to discover independent works of great creative value.
