The first prisoner exchange following the Israeli-Palestinian truce: 90 Palestinian prisoners were released during the night under the agreement between Israel and Hamas.
Hamas has however pointed out that one prisoner is missing from the roll call and is putting pressure on Red Cross and various mediators so that the prisoner in question can be released. Of these 90 people mentioned above, 69 are women and 78 are residents of the West Bank.
The first phase of this fragile Israeli-Palestinian truce is expected to see the release of around 1900 Palestinians held in detention. Yesterday, the first trucks carrying humanitarian aid (over 600) also entered the Gaza Strip. Finally, China expressed its appreciation for the truce itself, hoping that both sides would commit to respecting it scrupulously.
