The book presentation season with Gialli.it resumes on Saturday 18 January 2025 at the Casa del Giallo in Naples in via Enrico Alvino 129 in Vomero. The appointment is at 18 pm with Maria Elisa Aloisi who recently published the novel “Sto mentendo. Un caso per Ilia Moncada” with Mondadori.

The book will be presented by the host, Ciro Sabatino, former artistic director of the Festival del Giallo Città di Napoli and president of the association Gialli.it and of the Club del Giallo Napoli. The author will be joined by writer Denise Antonietti.

The book

The novel has a romantic and disturbing incipit, it tells of a November dawn and of Etna that has just spat ash all over Catania. It is precisely in that moment that the body of Carlo Spadaro is found, a geriatrician on whom hung the most infamous of accusations: having abused his daughter. His employer, Damiano Crisafulli, is accused of the murder, having had recent and heated arguments with the victim. After a few months, and through strange indirect ways, Emilia Moncada – “Ilia” to her friends – is called to take on his defense. She is a young criminal lawyer with a sincere passion for the Law, a marked phobia of speaking in public and a very tangled love life. But also with a great talent for reading the souls of clients, in the papers of a trial and in the secrets nestled between the folds of a crime.

The case, however, shows many, too many thorns: Damiano had an excellent motive to kill, he has no alibi and traces of his presence were found at the crime scene. And then he can be unpleasant, as a man he is anything but irreproachable. The outcome of the trial, in short, seems obvious and the path hindered by a whirlwind of lies. In the courtroom, in fact, everyone seems to have a good reason to lie.

Caught up in dealing with family issues and dilemmas of the heart, will Ilia be able to bring the truth to light?

The House of Yellow in Naples by Gialli.it

The Casa del Giallo in Naples is the official headquarters of Gialli.it, which celebrated its 2024th anniversary in 15. It is a multidisciplinary association because it deals with many activities and promotes many events. First of all, it organizes the Festival del Giallo Città di Napoli in its fourth edition in 2025, with Maurizio de Giovanni as honorary president and Ciro Sabatino as artistic director. To date, it has brought about three hundred authors to the city, including Italians and foreigners, personalities in the sector, and professionals. And it has attracted thousands of fans of the genre.

Gialli.it is managed by journalists Anita Curci and Ciro Sabatino, who also take care of the publishing house, a bimonthly newspaper, the Sunday web magazine, a website, a blog, the Club del Giallo, and free youth courses on approaching cultural enterprise.

La Casa del Giallo presents itself as a post station for writers, journalists, mystery writers and collectors.

The venue, in addition to a library dedicated to mystery, noir and thriller, offers an event space for presentations, workshops and dramatized stories. They range from unsolved cases addressed with magistrates, writers and professional detectives, to mystery stories presented with actors and crime reporters. Also on the program are mind games and workshops related to investigation and criminology, among which the first Detection School directed by the magistrate Raffaele Marino, for years in the pool of the Naples District Anti-Mafia Directorate, should certainly be mentioned.
