Incredible episode yesterday afternoon in Salerno, around 16:20 pm, in Piazza 24 Maggio: a family, consisting of a mother, father and two children, boarded a bus of line 10 headed to Mercato San Severino, but left the little ones at the stop.

According to witnesses, the two children – a 4-year-old girl and a 7-year-old boy – suddenly found themselves alone. The little girl, scared, got on another bus, line 22, headed to Lancusi, while her older brother remained on the road, waiting for his parents to return.

The alarm was raised by the parents themselves, who, realizing the serious oversight, immediately contacted the police. The report to the emergency number 112 triggered a real search operation.

Within minutes, the Carabinieri arrived on the scene, coordinating with Busitalia staff. Drivers and inspectors from the local public transport company collaborated, temporarily stopping all transit vehicles to allow the children to be found.

All departing vehicles blocked and children rescued

Thanks to the promptness of the driver of line 22, who remained in constant telephone contact, and the effective teamwork between the police and transport personnel, the two little ones were recovered safely and entrusted to the Carabinieri.

The episode, fortunately concluded without serious consequences, generated great amazement and concern among those present and the operators involved.

It's strange that a family can forget their children on a bus, but I think it happens to many people in moments of distraction. I hope the children are okay and that this situation does not happen again.
