A wall of the former Convent in via Casa Leone, in the hamlet of Cappelle a Salerno, collapsed, causing concern in the local community. The collapse involved a residential area, with stones and debris damaging some properties, although fortunately there were no injuries, thanks to the absence of people in the adjacent garden at the time of the accident.
The structure in question was undergoing demolition work to make room for the construction of two new buildings. The Salerno city police intervened on site and began investigations to determine the causes of the collapse and to identify any responsibilities.
The analysis will also proceed by verifying the permits granted for the works, to ensure that the necessary precautions were followed during the demolition operations and in the planning of the ongoing construction project.
