Sports betting in Italy continues to grow at an impressive rate, with football confirming itself as the true driving force of the sector: according to data reported by Agipronews in FIGC Integrated Budget 2023, presented today at Federal Council of Rome, the overall collection from football bets has reached share of 14,8 billion euros, marking an increase of over seven times more than in 2006.
The tax revenue generated is equal to 371,4 million euro, while the impact on the National GDP is estimated at almost 1,6 billion euros. The analysis confirms the absolute dominance of football in the world of betting: in top 50 biggest-grossing sporting events in history, they appear exclusively football matches.
In particular, the races of the National A men's team in 2023 they produced an average collection of 5,7 million euros per event, with a tax revenue of 0,2 million per game. Numbers significantly higher than those of other sports: the matches of the National basketball team they stop at 0,8 million euro, while those of the National Volleyball Team a 0,4 million.
Champions League Final 2023: The Most Bets Ever
The match with the highest number of plays in the history of Italian sport has also changed. The record belongs to UEFA Champions League 2022-2023 final between Inter and Manchester City, which totaled a movement of 40,1 million euro. They follow the 2022 FIFA World Cup Final between Argentina and France, with 33,7 million, and the UEFA EURO 2020 Final between Italy and England, with 30,8 million.
