PADULA (SALERNO) - Sensational archaeological discovery in Padula, where a necropolis dating back to the XNUMXth century BC It emerged during work on a construction site near the Certosa di San Lorenzo.

The discovery, made during checks of the Carabinieri of the Cultural Heritage Protection Unit of Naples, led to the seizure of the area to avoid further damage to the finds and to allow the Superintendence of Salerno and Avellino to start archaeological investigations.

Approximately 500,000 artefacts were found in the area. 200 archaeological finds, including red-figure vases, plates, lamps, weapons, coins and even a bronze warrior's belt.
