Caserta's Teatro Civico 14 will host "Tempesta," a production produced by Casa del Contemporaneo under the direction of Rosario Sparno. This work is part of the Shakespearean diptych "Shakespeare and Illusion," which opens with "Tempesta" and concludes with "A Midsummer Night's Dream."

Actors Massimiliano Foà, Luca Iervolino and Francesca De Nicolais will bring an enchanted island to life on stage, breaking down the barriers between stage and audience. Tickets are available at €12 full price, with reductions of €10 for young people under 30, seniors over 65 and affiliates, on the website www.teatrocivico14.it.

A Journey into Shakespearean Illusion

The project investigates Shakespeare's poetic world, combining magic and dreams with human events. “The Tempest” is seen as the last work of the English playwright, synthesizing his poetics and his love for theater. The show represents stories of love, power and freedom on a symbolic island, with narrative elements such as Prospero, Ariel, Miranda, Ferdinand and Caliban. The salt on the stage represents the sea, creating an atmosphere in constant movement.

Creativity and Imagination on Stage

Rosario Sparno describes the show as an event where “salt becomes sea” and revenge turns into forgiveness. The stage, described as a wooden circle, is a space of transformation and revolution, where roles are subverted and characters fight for a vision of society without winners or losers. It is a tribute to the actors who, by living their characters, make every word and movement meaningful.

I went to see Tempesta last year and I really liked it. I hope this year will be the same or better. I heard that salt is used to represent the sea, which is interesting but I don't know if I'll understand everything.
