NOCERA SUPERIORE (SALERNO) – Moments of strong tension yesterday evening between the historically rival fan bases of Cavese e Nocerina, even though their respective teams now play in different categories, Serie C and Serie D.
According to the reconstruction by the Salerno Police Headquarters, the episode occurred when a group of Cavese fans, returning from the away match against Avellino, deviated from the route recommended by the police. About fifteen minivans carrying the Cavese supporters in fact separated from the main caravan, heading towards the locality Citole, in Nocera Superiore.
However, a large group of about 100 people was waiting for them. 100 Nocerina fansThe confrontation between the two factions quickly degenerated into a violent launch of paper bombs, smoke bombs and stones, which risked turning into a direct clash. The intervention of the Police, supported by the Carabinieri of the Territorial Department of Nocera Inferiore, which managed to avoid contact between the two groups, thus preventing the situation from degenerating further.
Despite the intensity of the clash, no injuries were reported. However, some service cars were damaged during the riots. The Digos of the Salerno Police Headquarters has started investigations to identify those responsible for the incident. The climate of rivalry between the two fan bases, unfortunately, shows no signs of abating, despite the distance between the categories in which Cavese and Nocerina.
