Santa Maria Capua Vetere – "ColtiviAmoFuturo," already part of the Coordination of Italian Farmers and Fishermen (COAPI), will also actively participate in the national mobilization on January 28th, taking to the streets with tractors to denounce the serious crisis gripping the agricultural and fruit and vegetable sectors."
It is the call to mobilize the farmers who have released a statement. “ColtiviAmoFuturo the organization of the garrison of Santa Maria Capua Vetere, uniting farmers in a peaceful but determined protest to claim a sustainable and dignified future for the agricultural sector.
The staggered group of tractors will depart from the market area of San Cipriano d'Aversa at 8:00 on January 28. Along the Strada Statale 7 Bis, near (…) San Tammaro, at 10:30/11 other farmers will join with their vehicles. From San Tammaro, the tractors will move – it continues – in procession towards Santa Maria Capua Vetere, concluding the route near the motorway junction, where they will stop to give voice to their demands”.
The mobilization stems from the exasperation of farmers who find themselves facing chronic problems: from the unsustainable increase in production costs to speculation along the supply chain, to unfair competition on global markets. The fruit and vegetable sector - it is explained - in particular, is under attack, with thousands of companies struggling to survive.
“ColtiviAmoFuturo” declares: “Our territory is rich in extraordinary resources, but politics and the market are letting our companies die. This mobilization is not just a protest, but an appeal to the country to defend food sovereignty and the work of those who cultivate the future every day.”
The ColtiviAmoFuturo Movement joins the request for extraordinary measures to declare a State of Crisis and save small and medium-sized agricultural businesses. Farmers – we read further – ask that politics, at every level, assume the responsibility of protecting one of the fundamental pillars of the Italian economic and social system”.
