Gricignano d'Aversa. The nightmare does not end at Frigo Caserta. Just ten days after the death of Pompeo Mezzacapo, a new mourning and a new tragedy strike the plant: Patrizio Spasiano, just 19 years old, loses his life in an accident at work. The young worker, intent on maintenance work, was overwhelmed by a toxic cloud of ammonia that was released from the refrigeration system.
The Carabinieri of Marcianise have sequestered the area of the accident, opening an investigation to shed full light on the causes of the tragedy. The autopsy, ordered by the Prosecutor's Office, will be essential to establish exactly the dynamics of the incident and whether there are any responsibilities. At the moment there are no suspects, but the investigations are just beginning.
The 19-year-old originally from Secondigliano, had been employed for only three months by the company that does maintenance work. Many messages on social media to the family and his young girlfriend Noemi. Many are asking for justice and truth about what happened.
Pollution alert over?
In the hours following the accident, the municipal administration had invited the population to stay at home due to the risk of toxic fumes. The first findings by Arpac, however, seem to exclude critical issues regarding pollution levels, even in the areas closest to the plant.
Two deaths in ten days
FrigoCaserta is once again at the center of a new tragedy, with two lives lost in the space of a few days. The local community is shocked and wonders how it is possible that two fatal accidents have occurred in the same place in such a short time.
