Scam related to local public transport in Benevento: on the sponsored Facebook page “Public transport in Benevento” they were in fact advertised carte which promised unlimited bus rides in the Sannio capital and surrounding areas for six months at the paltry cost of just 2,35 €.
The ad, which includes seemingly credible stories and posts, claims that only 500 of these special limited-edition cards are available, inviting users to click on a link to purchase. However, behind this tempting offer lies a scam: the company that supposedly offers the service, Amts, is in fact failed nine years ago.
To make the deception even more credible, the sponsored page is flooded with comments from fake profiles, praising the initiative and encouraging users to participate. Some posts even include fake images of the alleged commemorative card. Citizens are invited to do not click on the advertised link and to avoid any payment.
This is a phishing or fraud attempt to steal money or personal data from users. Authorities recommend that you be alert to these fake online promotions and report any suspicions to law enforcement to help stop similar fraudulent activity.
