A serious accident was avoided thanks to the timely intervention of the authorities, after a driver with evident psychophysical alterations drove the wrong way on the Messina-Catania highway.
The images recorded by the video surveillance cameras of the Sicilian Highways Consortium document the dangerous event.
The individual, a 36-year-old man from the province of Enna with a criminal record, was driving a Fiat Panda. Under the influence of alcohol, he reversed direction near the Acireale junction, traveling more than 20 kilometers in the overtaking lane.
