Almost two hours to get the necessary medical assistance. A 52-year-old woman is now hospitalized in very serious conditions at the “San Luca” hospital in Vallo della Lucania and struggle between life and death.
The episode occurred on January 1st in San Mauro Cilento. A local woman suddenly felt ill. Her husband sought help from the local medical emergency service, which was closed at the time due to the unavailability of personnel. So, together with the mayor Carlo Pisacane, he tried to contact the medical staff, but the other stations nearby were also inactive.
So the intervention of 118 was requested. After twenty-five minutes, despite the seriousness of the situation, an ambulance arrived from Castellabate with only one nurse on board who, faced with the seriousness of the situation, did not have the possibility to provide all the necessary assistance. Only after ninety minutes, those present say, did a medical car arrive from Vallo della Lucania.
