Vico Equense - A 27-year-old man has been charged with theft in Vico Equense.
This morning, in fact, at the Naples Poggioreale prison, the Carabinieri of the Sorrento Company executed a custodial remand order against him.
The order was issued by the GIP of Torre Annunziata at the request of the Public Prosecutor's Office: the arrested man, 27 years old, already detained for other charges, now investigated for the theft of a scooter.
The criminal episode dates back to August 16, 2024, when in Vico Equense, a thief took advantage of a moment of distraction of the owner to steal a scooter left unattended with the keys inserted. In addition to the vehicle, the helmet was also stolen, aggravating the crime given that the theft was committed on goods exposed to public faith.
The investigations, conducted by the military of the Vico Equense Station under the coordination of the Public Prosecutor's Office, have reconstructed in detail the phases of the theft. The thief, to elude the investigations, after taking the vehicle, hid it briefly, changed clothes and left the Sorrento Peninsula through a secondary road closed to traffic.
The turning point in the investigations came thanks to the analysis of video surveillance images, both public and private, combined with targeted investigative activities that allowed to identify with high probability the person responsible for the theft in the current suspect.
