The spotlight is on Simone Tempia and his wise butler Lloyd – a literary phenomenon with social origins – at the Ubik bookshop in Vico Equense.
The author, last weekend, was the first guest of a series of meetings scheduled at the Vicano bookstore, conceived by the owners to celebrate 10 years of activity.
The event, centered on Simone Tempia's new book "Vita con Lloyd - Il giardino del tempo", published by Rizzoli, allowed the public to gain a deeper understanding of the author and his entire creative journey through a brilliant dialogue with the writer Paquito Catanzaro.
The two, interacting dynamically, have largely satisfied the expectations of those who came with the desire to know, from the creator's own words, the inspiration and dynamics that led to Loyd's overwhelming social success, from 2014 to today, as well as to his subsequent literary consecration.
Persuasive and engaging, Simone Tempia – prompted by Catanzaro's effective questions – with a detailed speech on time, and the story of the butler Loyd's early days in life, confirmed his marked sensitivity and undeniable qualities as a great communicator.
Life with Lloyd The Garden of Time” was born from the writer’s need to understand the ten years spent with his faithful character. To grasp the meaning of the effort made – five days a week, every week – in analyzing his own life and uploading the contents in the form of dialogue on social media.
A time that changed his life and, above all, allowed him to publish his first book and then the others.
“At 14 I started writing 6 hours a day, every day, because that's how it is if you want it to become a profession. I published my first book at 34. I had 20 years of doors slammed in my face. When after twenty years you write every day and try to publish and they always say no, you put a lid on it. Then one morning you wake up on the wrong side of the bed, you write a life dialogue with Loyd and everything changes. In ten years your life is revolutionized”.
This revolution that goes through life, according to Simone Tempia, must lead to interpreting its time differently and with gratitude. Because in the time we live we must have the courage to look around and grasp the surrounding wonder. It will then be easy to discover that the temporal dimension in which we are immersed is not one, but is “potentially infinite” and varied.
A subject can be absorbed by the pain of disappointment, but at the same time other aspects of his life can evolve and bear fruit. This, according to Loyd's literary father, determines the existence of two times of the same life experience. To which a third time is added when, grasping the beauty of the surrounding landscape - even in a metaphorical sense - one becomes capable of gathering wonder.
“Think of something painful, a bereavement, a very big disappointment […] but while you are living the time of disappointment, somewhere in your life a project, an idea, an intuition, is giving a fruit, a flower. How many times are these? Two! And then there is a third perhaps, you turn around for a second and see your child's eyes, a smile and you think what time is this? It is the time of wonder.”
The garden therefore measures the time of life. That time that wonder makes wider by generating positive expectations, nourishing hope and cultivating a powerful feeling of trust.
“LIFE WITH LlOYD The Garden of Time” is defined by the author as a book full of hope, a way of being alive that too often escapes our attention. Because the time of wonder “we call it time that runs away, instead it is we who are running away from time, who are losing ourselves without ever losing time.”
