A dramatic episode of domestic violence took place yesterday in Villa Literno, where a 45-year-old man was arrested by the Carabinieri after attacking his wife in front of their three minor children.
The story began with a fight that broke out over trivial reasons, culminating in a brutal attack. The victim, a 40-year-old woman, managed to ask for help from the military despite the state of shock she was in.
When the police arrived on the scene, they found the woman visibly agitated, clutching her youngest daughter, just three years old, in her arms. The 40-year-old said she had been punched in the face, slapped and pulled by the hair by her husband, all in front of her children, aged 3, 12 and 13.
During the complaint, the woman revealed that she had suffered other attacks by her husband in the past, which had never been reported until that moment.
Law enforcement tracked down the man at his sister's house, where he had taken refuge immediately after the events. The 45-year-old was arrested and taken to the Santa Maria Capua Vetere prison.
The episode turns the spotlight back on the dramatic phenomenon of domestic violence, a problem that too often remains confined to the silence of the home.
