A 30-year-old man from Sarno was sentenced on appeal to 7 years and 7 months in prison for sexual assault against a 21-year-old woman.
The events date back to the night between November 12 and 13, 2023. According to investigators' reconstruction, the man, after offering the girl a ride, took her to an isolated area and, taking advantage of the situation, forced her to undergo sexual acts.

The victim's friend reported the incident after receiving several messages and a phone call, in which she sensed the girl was clearly distressed.

The Carabinieri's investigation, supported by witness statements and intercepted messages, confirmed the victim's version. The young man was located shortly after the incident, and his behavior, along with the discovery of the girl's cell phone thrown from the car window, strengthened investigators' suspicions.
The unheard defense
The defendant, who has always denied the charges, maintaining that the sex was consensual, failed to convince the judges. His version of events was deemed unreliable, contradictory, and inconsistent with the evidence gathered.
The Salerno Court of Appeal's ruling confirms the seriousness of the facts and imposes a heavy sentence on the man. The defense, however, has already announced its intention to appeal to the Supreme Court.
