The complaint and investigations
The victim's friend reported the incident after being alerted by some messages and a phone call in which she perceived the girl's clear discomfort.
The investigations of the Carabinieri, supported by testimonies and intercepted messages, confirmed the victim's version. The young man, in fact, was tracked down shortly after the events and his behavior, together with the discovery of the girl's cell phone thrown from the car window, strengthened the investigators' suspicions.
The unheard defense
The defendant, who has always denied the charges, claiming that the relationship was consensual, did not convince the judges. His version of events was deemed not credible, contradictory and in contrast with the evidence collected.
The sentence of the Court of Appeal of Salerno confirms the seriousness of the facts and sanctions a heavy sentence for the man. The defense, however, has already announced its intention to appeal to the Supreme Court.
