Acerra – On the day of the last farewell to the little girl Giulia Loffredo, the nine-month-old baby who died in dramatic circumstances, investigations continue to shed light on the tragedy.
Article Key Points
THEFlat where the incident took place would have been cleaned of traces of blood, perhaps by family members. This was reported by Luigi Montano, lawyer of the child's father, Vincenzo Loffredo, investigated at large for manslaughter.
The tragedy occurred during the night between Saturday and Sunday: according to the father's version, the little girl was attacked by the family pitbull while she was sleeping on her parents' bed. However, the man had initially spoken of an attack by a stray dog, a version later denied during questioning at the police station.
The Mystery of the Missing Tracks
Investigators are trying to clarify the inconsistencies in the reconstruction of the facts. During a second inspection of the house by the forensic police, the blood that, according to the father, was on the bedroom floor, was no longer present. The apartment, under seizure since Sunday, was found clean.
“The apartment had already been searched and the child's mother had fainted at the sight of the blood,” has explained the lawyer Montano. “On Sunday evening, while Vincenzo was at the police station, his family entered and found the house unsealed.”
The investigation and the tests on the dogs
The investigations are now also focusing on the two dogs at home: in addition to the pitbull, also a regularly registered mongrel, both under observation in a kennel in Frattamaggiore. In the next few days, behavioral analyses and tests will be performed to verify the presence of organic traces of the little girl.
Meanwhile, investigators are examining surveillance camera footage to determine whether the father was actually in the home at the time of the incident. The young man tested positive for hashish, but the test will need to be confirmed.
Yesterday the funeral and the city's grief
As the investigation continues, Acerra has gathered around the grief of Giulia's parents. The sealed-off Cathedral welcomed only close relatives for the final farewell to the little girl. Outside, in the square in front, dozens of people waited in silence for the passage of the small white coffin. During the ceremony, the assistant parish priest Don Gustavo Arbellino invited the parents to "start again from love, the same love that generated Giulia, now entrusted to the Madonna".
At the exit, the hearse passed through the crowd followed by the little girl's parents, protected by friends to avoid filming and photographs.
The final answers on the tragedy will come with the results of the autopsy. It remains to be understood what really happened that night and who cleaned up the scene of the drama.
