Last Sunday, a hit-and-run driver hit her, leaving her seriously injured. Local health authority veterinarians attempted to save her, but yesterday the sad news of her death arrived.

Mayor Marino Sarno paid tribute to her with a message on social media: "Hi Sally, your community sends you their regards." This grief is shared by all the residents, who now ask for their beloved mascot back so they can give her a dignified burial.

Not only that: to honor her memory, the Municipality has decided to dedicate a small monument to her in a public area of the town. A tangible sign of the affection that Volturara Irpina has always had for its faithful four-legged friend.
