The Campi Flegrei are once again at the center of seismic phenomena: tremors have been recorded for three days and the population is frightened and arguing with those who are unable to give instructions on what to do.
Experts link these phenomena to bradyseism, a continuous lifting and lowering of the ground. During the night, the area experienced a significant seismic swarm. The most significant shock, of magnitude 2.6, was recorded at 23:18 p.m. with its epicenter in the Pisciarelli area, at a depth of two kilometers. This event was preceded by other earthquakes at 23:03 p.m. of magnitude 2.0 and at 22:40 p.m. of magnitude 2.3, the latter with its epicenter near Solfatara.
The vibrations were felt in various western neighborhoods of Naples, such as Agnano, Bagnoli and Fuorigrotta, but also in Posillipo as well as Bacoli and Quarto. Residents of the areas closest to the epicenter described hearing a constant background noise, accompanied by the shaking of glass and objects in their homes. Despite the strong seismic activity, no damage to people or property was recorded.
“They can't leave us at the mercy of a bradyseismic phenomenon so important that it could significantly damage our homes, they are superficial shocks, buildings inevitably suffer damage if all goes well if not collapse if shocks with a higher magnitude were to arrive, but when will they give the possibility to people who can to move away from here??? at least we would have to manage a smaller population if badly we would then have to manage an evacuation”, wrote a citizen in the very popular social group “Quelli della zona rossa del vulcano Campi Flegrei”.

Reading the article on Campi Flegrei I realized that the current seismic situation is worrying. The bradyseism phenomena are complex and it is difficult to understand how to behave. Let's hope that the experts will give clear answers soon.
