Nicola Salvati, the Democratic Party's regional treasurer for Campania, has also been arrested and placed under house arrest in the investigation by the Salerno prosecutor's office, which is accusing dozens of suspects of criminal conspiracy to aid and abet illegal immigration, corruption, forgery, and self-laundering.
The party, Antonio Misiani, commissioner of the Democratic Party in Campania, announced, has suspended him.
“In relation to the investigation conducted by the District Attorney's Office of Salerno which led to the execution of an order implementing personal precautionary measures against 31 people, the Campania Democratic Party communicates – writes Misiani in a note – that Dr. Nicola Salvati, involved in theinvestigation in relation to his professional activity, pursuant to the Statute and the Ethical Code of the Democratic Party and without prejudice to the principle of presumption of innocence, he has been suspended as a precaution from the registry of members of the Democratic Party and relieved from his position as treasurer of the Campania Democratic Party”.
