Gaspare Ofria, nephew of mafia boss Gaetano Badalamenti, was arrested in Sofia, Bulgaria, after being on the run for approximately two years. The operation that led to his arrest was conducted by police and Carabinieri, coordinated by the Genoa Prosecutor's Office.
Ofria was sentenced in 2023 to multiple convictions, including one for "fraudulent bankruptcy in conspiracy," another for "illegal use of credit cards in conspiracy," and finally for "violation of family support obligations."

It's incredible how organized crime continues to be a serious problem in Italy. Ofria seems to have had a complicated life, but in the end justice took its course. Let's hope this serves as a lesson.
