Avellino – A 60-year-old entrepreneur was reported by the Carabinieri of the Forestry Unit of Ariano Irpino and Castel Baronia for illegal management of special waste.
The man, owner of a factory in Casalbore (Avellino), is accused of having illegally discharged industrial waste water and of having deposited non-hazardous special waste without adequate protection measures from atmospheric agents.
According to the investigations, the waste, exposed to the elements, was flooded by wastewater produced by industrial activity, subsequently conveyed into the public sewer system without the necessary pre-treatment through a pre-filtering and oil separation tank.
The operation led to the entrepreneur being reported to the Benevento Prosecutor's Office and to the issuing of an administrative fine of 2 thousand euros. Law enforcement continues to check the factories in the area to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
