Nola – Vincenzo Loffredo, the father of little Giulia, the nine-month-old baby who died during the night between Saturday and Sunday in their home in Acerra, was heard yesterday at the Nola Public Prosecutor's Office.
During questioning, the 24-year-old reconstructed the last hours spent with his daughter, reiterating that he had not directly witnessed the attack by the family pitbull. However, he stated that he had guessed what had happened from the bite marks on the child's body and the blood covering her, elements later confirmed, according to rumors, by the autopsy carried out on Tuesday.
Loffredo said he fell asleep next to the little girl and woke up to find her on the floor, in a pool of blood. At the moment, he is under investigation at large for manslaughter, accused of failure to guard and supervise the dog, which allegedly attacked his daughter.
Investigators are analyzing footage from surveillance cameras in the area to verify whether the young man was actually in the home at the time of the incident.

Meanwhile, investigations continue on the two dogs seized in the apartment: Tyson, the pitbull found not to have a microchip, and Laika, a regularly registered crossbreed. The two animals are currently kept in the kennel affiliated with the ASL Napoli 2 in Frattaminore. According to investigative sources, the pitbull does not show signs of aggression and in the next few days will be subjected to an evaluation by a veterinary behaviorist.
Further investigations are underway to shed light on the dynamics of the attack. Investigators are analyzing the feces of the two dogs to verify the presence of organic traces attributable to the child.
The results, expected within ten days, could provide key elements to reconstruct what happened. In the meantime, the initial doubts about the lack of visible blood traces on the pitbull have been dispelled: the dog could have removed them by drinking water.
The investigations are also continuing to ascertain the presence of traces of the little girl's DNA in the mouths of the two animals. A complex case, which still keeps the community of Acerra in suspense, waiting for definitive answers on a tragedy that has shocked the entire city.
