From February 7 to 9, 2025, the TRAM theater will host "Cage 1," the second installment of the Human Zoo-M project. Created by Francesca Esposito, and featuring a cast including Adriana D'Agostino, Taras Nakonechnyi, and Clara Bocchino, the show immerses spectators in a dystopian world where human identity is challenged in the digital age.
The plot of “Cage 1”
Following the success of “Cage 47,” “Cage 1” introduces the character of Fenix, a former zookeeper who houses humans in captivity. They live in a digital cage, busy producing content for Zoo-m, a social network that defines their existence. Fenix, however, dreams of a revolt and begins to spread information about life “Offline.” Rabdo, an Artificial Intelligence, manages and controls every aspect of their virtual identities. A blackout interrupts the system, forcing the protagonists to choose between remaining in the digital world or seeking new freedom.
A dialogue on virtual existence
“Human Zoo-M is inspired by Plato's myth of the cave,” explains director Francesca Esposito. The project's goal is to explore the individual's identification with their image on social media. Through theater, the production raises essential questions about humanity, challenging the conventions of modern society. “We are not our social role nor our social image,” Esposito argues, emphasizing the importance of distinguishing between the illusions created by social media and the true essence of the individual. With a captivating narrative, “Cage 1” invites spectators to reflect on their “digital shadows” and the authenticity of their own identity.
