Naples – For the third consecutive year the Breast Unit Cardarelli of Naples has received the European certification of 'Breast Centre' from Eusoma, the European Society of Breast Cancer Specialists.
The seal of excellence on timing, pathways and procedures of the Neapolitan hospital, the only public facility in the South to have received the recognition, arrived after the audit carried out by experts from all over the world.
This is the confirmation of expertise and reliability unanimously recognized by the hospital and scientific community.
Among the main characteristics of the complex units directed by Ferdinando Riccardi (Oncology), Salvatore Minelli (Breast Diagnostics), Martino Trunfio (Breast Surgery) there are the Gom (multidisciplinary working groups) in the presence of the patients, thus ensuring a global care and transparency in the treatments, which range from the diagnostics to the more strictly therapeutic part, from psychological support to nursing counseling.
At Cardarelli there is also the only radiology service entirely dedicated to breast cancer in the entire Campania region, capable of providing 13 thousand services per year including ultrasounds and mammograms, in addition to 100 microhistological biopsies per month.
The Neapolitan hospital is also in first place for admissions for surgery in the presence of breast cancer among the hospitals in the province of Naples also in 2024, with 435 cases operated, a growing trend compared to the already flattering data of 2023.
