A Carabiniere from the Operational and Radiomobile Unit of the Company marcianise, off duty, foiled a car theft in Sant'Arpino, in the province of Caserta, putting the thieves to flight.
The soldier, passing through via Castellone, noticed two individuals with their faces covered by balaclavas intent on forcing the door of a parked Jeep Renegade. The criminals had already managed to start the engine when they were interrupted by the intervention of the carabiniere, who identified himself and ordered them to stop.
The thieves, taken by surprise, reacted by throwing a torch at the soldier, hitting him in the shoulder. They then abandoned the car they had just stolen and fled on board a dark gray Ford Puma, driven by an accomplice, disappearing into the direction of Orta di Atella.
The Jeep Renegade was recovered and returned to its rightful owner, who had not yet realized it had been stolen. The man expressed his gratitude to the policeman, hugging him.
The police are now looking for the criminals, thanks also to the information provided by the soldier.
