This morning, Penitentiary Police officers, with the help of canine units, carried out an extraordinary search in the Avellino prison, in the Bellizzi district.
The operation, coordinated by the department commander, led to the discovery of several cell phones, battery chargers and narcotics cleverly hidden inside the rooms and the recreation room.
Raffaele Troise, head of the Gau Uilpa Penitentiary Police secretariat of Avellino Bellizzi, expressed his appreciation for the operation, underlining how it represents a "fight against the introduction of prohibited objects and the possession and dealing of narcotic substances".
Troise expressed the hope that the officers involved will be given due recognition, especially in light of the recent “dramatic events” that have affected the Avellino prison.
“Despite the latest dramatic events that have once again written a disastrous page in the history of the Prison of the Irpinia capital and for which we trust in a rapid resolution – declared Troise – these operations restore the pride of the Penitentiary Police Agents, hoping that their value will also be recognized in the eyes of public opinion”.
The Uilpa Penitentiary Police expressed its praise to the police officers of the Avellino District Prison and to the department commander for the "commendable spirit of self-denial" demonstrated in the operation.

I think that the operation carried out in the Avellino prison was very important for security and control. The presence of dog units was essential, but there should be more controls and fewer prohibited objects.
