The SOTTENCOPPA Neapolitan Sonic Carnival, under the artistic direction of Giulio Nocera and promoted by the City of Naples, returns for its third edition, once again focusing on music, performance, and ritual to offer a transformative collective experience. After welcoming more than 30 international artists in previous editions, this year's festival will take place on February 28th and March 1st and 4th, transforming Piazza Mercato and a large Circus Tent into the backdrop of an immersive event.
A Carnival of Music and Transformation
The festival will begin on February 28th at 19:30 PM with a traveling parade led by the Dan Kinzelman Quintet, which will lead the audience from Piazza Mercato to the Tent, whose mask-costumes are curated by the artist LULIII and inspired by Neapolitan tradition.

Performances and Workshops for Children
SOTTENCOPPA also promotes the fusion of music and performance with initiatives such as Curanime and the KinAct Collective, along with the Bagarija Orkestar and the artist LULIII, who will unveil her four totemic figures. The event also features a children's program, with workshops curated by Selvaggia Filippini and Angela Dionisia Severino, ranging from traditional puppetry to theatrical arts, offering children an opportunity for discovery and creativity.

The sonic carnival is a very interesting initiative, but I'm not sure if there will be enough places for everyone. The activities for children seem like they will be fun, but I don't know if it will be easy for families to participate.
