Casavatore, copper theft emergency: 43-year-old arrested
Caught stealing electrical cables in a school abandoned
CASAVATORE – Schools continue to be targeted by thieves, even those no longer in use. During the night, the Carabinieri of the Casavatore station arrested Antonio Barbato, 43, already known to the police, caught stealing electrical cables containing copper from an abandoned school building.
The military patrol was patrolling the streets of the town north of Napoli when, in via Nicola Amore, he noticed suspicious movements near the former 1st Didactic District “E. De Filippo”. The man was stopped while he was trying to take away the material, the so-called “red gold”, increasingly in the sights of crime.
Barbato was already under house arrest and was ordered to remain at home during the night. He is now awaiting trial.

This article talks about a very serious fact, but I don't know if it's right to arrest people just for stealing cables. They should find better solutions to avoid these things from happening in schools, maybe by putting more security.
