Major operation by the Carabinieri in the municipalities of Grazzanise and Santa Maria La Fossa, where three companies were found not to be in compliance with current legislation on waste management and workplace safety.
The checks, conducted by the military of the Grazzanise Station and the Company of Santa Maria Capua Vetere, with the support of the Labor Inspectorate and the Arpac of Caserta, led to seizures and reports.
The target was a construction site located in via Fiume Morto, in Grazzanise, where a plant for the production of biomethane is being built. Here the Carabinieri seized an area of about 45 square meters, in which aggregate materials and bituminous fragments had been deposited by a third-party company. Three people, including the attorneys of the client company and the sole director of the company responsible for the spill, were reported at large.
In Santa Maria La Fossa, however, the military carried out checks at a warehouse located along the Provincial Road 333, ascertaining the presence of an area of 10 square meters where batteries and parts of motor vehicles had been stacked.
In this case too, the sole director of the company was reported for the illegal management of hazardous special waste and for serious violations of workplace safety regulations.
Among the irregularities found: lack of health supervision, lack of training of workers and an electrical system not up to standard. Administrative sanctions exceeding 20.000 euros were imposed on the company. Investigations are continuing to ascertain any further responsibilities.
