Castel Volturno – The protection of citizens' health was at the centre of a control operation carried out this morning by the Carabinieri of the Mondragone Territorial Department, in collaboration with the Carabinieri Anti-Adulteration and Health Unit (NAS) of CasertaThe target of the inspection was an ethnic supermarket located along Via Domiziana, in the municipality of Castel Volturno.

The military entered the store shortly after it opened, focusing their checks mainly on stored goods and fresh products intended for sale. The investigations immediately brought to light serious irregularities, particularly in the management of meat and fish products.

From the first investigations, it emerged the total absence of indications regarding the packaging, batching or labeling of the products, fundamental elements to guarantee the traceability and tracking of food. This deficiency made it impossible to trace the origin, provenance or purchasing, production and transformation processes of the goods examined, exposing consumers to potentially serious health risks.

In light of the irregularities found, the Carabinieri proceeded to notify the legal representative of the supermarket, present during the operation, of the charges. Approximately 300 kilos of products, including meat and fish of various types, deemed unsuitable for marketing, were then seized.

The intervention is part of the control and prevention activities carried out by law enforcement to ensure food safety and combat fraud in the large-scale retail sector. Investigations are now underway to ascertain any responsibilities and reconstruct the entire supply chain of the seized products.
