Castellammare - The crackdown on garbage bag inspections is causing more than a little discontent among residents and business owners, who are now pointing the finger at waste left on the ground and collected too slowly.
The situation is aggravated by operating methods that raise concerns: what until recently was considered undifferentiated is no longer so, at least according to the company responsible for collection.
Residents themselves bear witness to this, reporting that bags left on the roadside with the yellow "non-compliant waste" sticker have not been collected.

In the meantime, the Municipal Police – through the environmental sector led by Captain Enzo Bisogni – has intensified checks since the beginning of January, already issuing 60 fines against private individuals and traders.
However, the controversy has been ignited after the last city council meeting on waste, which saw councilors Cuomo and Apuzzo as protagonists. According to many, the Velia Ambiente company is carrying out a sort of "reprisal" on citizens, who end up paying for the inefficiencies of a collection system that needs to be reviewed and optimized.
To further complicate the situation, the environmental department agents stopped some vehicles intended for collection because they were still registered to the old company, issuing three fines. The climate remains tense, while residents await concrete answers for clearer and more effective waste management.
