An evening dedicated to 18th-century music, from Florence to Naples, will be held on February 14, 2025, at the Michelangelo Museum/ITS "Buonarroti" in Caserta. Early music enthusiasts will enjoy the salon melodies of the era thanks to musicians Giuseppe Granatello and Pietro Di Lorenzo, who will perform pieces for harpsichord four-hands.
The Concert Program
The event will begin at 19:00 pm with free admission, offering a fascinating journey through the musical repertoire for harpsichord four hands, a field that began to arouse interest among composers from the 1740s onwards. This was the period in which musical culture spread more widely among the bourgeois classes, driven to emulate aristocratic taste. The program includes works representative of the musical schools of Florence and Naples, admirably interpreted on period instruments.
Event Details
The musical selection includes compositions by Rutini, Jommelli, Tomeoni and Giordani, taking the audience on a journey through the sentimental and gallant musical language of the years 1760 – 1790. Before the concert, a short visit to the museum collection is planned, focusing on the scientific instruments used in the same historical period by Vanvitelli and Rizzi Zannoni.
Collaborations and Context
The concert is organized in collaboration with the Michelangelo Museum of Caserta, recognized by the Campania Region and is part of the 23rd edition of the festival “… where music meets its time…”. This series of events is curated by the Cultural Associations “Ave Gratia Plena” and “Francesco Durante”, with the aim of making historical musical performances an experience enriched by compatible cultural and historical contexts. More details on the music in the program can be found on the website dedicated to the event.

The early music event seems very interesting to me, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to go. The date is a bit far away, but I hope I can organize myself in time so as not to miss it.
