Naples - A Secondigliano prisoner, Antonio Nocera, died in hospital after months of agony following a severe beating in Poggioreale prison.
The man, arrested last July for drugs and prison evasion, was involved in a fight in the penitentiary last December. The circumstances of the attack and the perpetrators remain shrouded in mystery.
Nocera had suffered severe fractures and bruises across several parts of his body, resulting in a coma for ten days. Despite a partial recovery, his condition remained precarious until his tragic death in a bed at the Ospedale del Mare.
