Naples - "The visit of the head of Europe Stellantis, Jean Philippe Imparato, at the Giambattista Vico factory in Pomigliano, confirmed the great ability of the workers to have been able to create all the conditions for the new Small platform to be implemented in the Campania plant starting from 2028".
This is what Mauro Cristiani, general secretary, claims Fiom Napoli and Mario Di Costanzo, automotive manager Fiom Napoli. “However, we believe it is necessary – Cristiani and Di Costanzo point out – also to have a framework agreement that establishes with certainty the times and methods of implementation of the new models, so that this industrial plan concretely guarantees employment levels and a transition to green, as established by the European directives.
The problem of social safety nets remains; 2028 is far away, we need an extraordinary plan that gives continuity to social safety nets, together with a tool capable of integrating the income of all the workers who to date have decimated their wages with devastating impacts for the vast majority of single-income people.
Added to this is the entire supply chain which is in extreme difficulty, so much so that the first to have already paid the consequences are the precarious workers who have been laid off from their companies".
“The related industries in Campania – they conclude – have approximately 11.000 thousand employees, these companies without an extraordinary plan negotiated between government, unions and companies, risk generating a social and employment problem of significant size, therefore we hope that we can finally open a serious discussion with all parties to guarantee the entire related industries in a territory tormented by crisis and layoffs”.
