A van speeding along the A1 motorway was stopped by the Caserta Highway Police, leading to the arrest of two men accused of transporting narcotics.
The vehicle attracted the attention of the officers after it suddenly slowed down at the sight of a patrol, prompting the officers to proceed with a check.
The van was stopped near the municipality of Pignataro Maggiore. During the inspection, the officers discovered a plastic panel on the dashboard of the vehicle, behind which were hidden two blocks of cocaine weighing almost 2 and a half kilos in total.
Drugs hidden in the dashboard
The two couriers, already known to the police for previous weapons-related offences, were transferred to the Santa Maria Capua Vetere prison, where they will remain awaiting the judgement to validate the arrest. The timely intervention of the agents allowed them to foil the attempt at illicit trafficking.
