“All we have to do is remember you. Happy birthday Massimo” - At Gambrinus, a party with free cake and sweets for Troisi’s 72nd birthday. Borrelli hosts: “Neapolitan doc, example, innovator. He has set a precedent and must serve as a model in a territory where the tik-tokers of degradation and crime are celebrated”
72 years old and doesn't feel it. In fact, Massimo Troisi would have turned 4 today if on June 1994, XNUMX, the worsening of his heart problems had not taken him away during the filming of Il Postino. But today Massimo for the Neapolitans, and not only them, is immortal and eternal.
To pay homage to and remember one of the greatest expressions of Neapolitanness, this morning at the GranCaffè Gambrinus in Piazza Trieste e Trento in Naples an event was held, organized by the deputy Francesco Emilio Borrelli, the host of La Radiazza Gianni Simioli and Massimiliano Rosati of Gambrinus, to celebrate the 72nd birthday of Massimo Troisi.
For the occasion, a cake was distributed free of charge, with a photo printed on it that portrays the unforgettable author of “Ricomincio da tre” and “Scusate il ritardo”, and various sweets. All made by the pastry shop of the historic café.
“He was a unique actor, comedian, artist, and Neapolitan.

He succeeded by focusing not on the lexicon but rather on the sounds, those sounds that recall and emotionally and mentally bring us back to our land, sounds that, above all, tell of universal emotions and feelings. It is precisely thanks to this innate gift of his to transmit and spread universal feelings that Massimo also revolutionized the concept of comedy, managing to make people laugh through these gestures and everyday moments, so common and natural that before him had always gone unnoticed.
Massimo should be a constant for those who live in this area, while too often glorify and honor highly questionable figures, including TikTok followers of degradation and crime. We regularly remember him, as we do for many other Neapolitan glories, such as Pino Daniele and Luciano De Crescenzo, and we have repeatedly screened his films, which everyone should know. Of course, there is always sadness and bitterness when thinking about his untimely death, but these fade when we focus on his memory and the legacy he left us. He is a role model. Now all we can do is smile as we remember him," Borrelli said.

It's truly a great pity that Massimo Troisi is no longer with us. His art was a true revolution in the Neapolitan comic panorama. Many should learn from his way of making people laugh and communicate.
