The prefect of Napoli, Michele Di Bari, made a surprise visit to the Roma camp of via Carrafiello, on the outskirts of Giugliano, to meet the police and the army soldiers involved in the checks in the area.
An operation that is part of a broader strategy of monitoring and combating illegal activities. "We have promoted a series of checks in line with what has already been done in recent months. The widespread illegality, everywhere, must be stopped and this is the objective we have set ourselves", declared the prefect.
During the visit, Di Bari underlined the importance of institutional collaboration, recognizing the commitment of the Campania region in promoting schooling and in trying to find housing solutions for Roma families. However, the call for the allocation of housing was unsuccessful and now the identified property could be used for other purposes.
The prefect firmly reiterated the principle of legality as an essential pillar for the territory: “We cannot allow lawlessness to take hold in this area”. He also announced that the effects of the controls will be evaluated in the coming days to establish further interventions.
