Acerra- "At this time it is unthinkable to shut down the Acerra incinerator"This was stated by the Vice President of the Chamber, Sergio Costa, on the sidelines of the inauguration of the judicial year of the Campania Court of Auditors.
According to Costa, to achieve the plant's future shutdown, waste sorting must reach very high levels.
"It's a long journey - added Costa - which involves the regional waste management plan, which is valid for six years, but it's clear that it's a laborious, long, and arduous process. It can be started, but we can't say it should be shut down right now because the conditions aren't right for it."
Costa's statement underscores the complexity of waste management in Campania and the need for a gradual approach to reducing incineration.
