Acerra- “At this time it is unthinkable to turn off the Acerra incinerator”. This was stated by the vice president of the Chamber, Sergio Costa, on the sidelines of the inauguration of the judicial year of the Campania Court of Auditors.
According to Costa, to get to the shutdown of theplant in the future, it is necessary that the collection reaches very high levels.
“It's a long journey – added Costa – which passes through the regional plan of waste, which is valid for six years, but it is clear that it is a laborious, long and tiring process. It can be started, but it cannot be said that it should be turned off at this time because the conditions for doing so are not there”.
Costa's statement highlights the complexity of waste management in Campania and the need for a gradual approach to reducing incineration.
