Naples – “The restyling of the Maradona stadium? It is an absolute priority”. This was declared by the mayor of Naples, Gaetano manf, guest on the Radio Gol show on Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.
The mayor has no doubts about the importance of the project, but he is cautious: “The decision must be shared with Calcio Napoli. Public funds are scarce, almost symbolic. It is up to the club to decide whether to relaunch the Maradona or look at a new stadium.
The Municipality is ready to offer maximum collaboration and every possible tool: a stadium up to the task is an essential requirement for this administration”.
The debate, heated by questions from host Valter De Maggio, turned to the 2032 European Championships, which Italy will organize with Turkey. A renovated Maradona could become one of the prestigious venues for the event. But there's more: the third ring, which has been out of action for about fifteen years due to vibration problems, is back in the spotlight.
"We are working," Manfredi announced, "with detailed technical investigations. We have involved experts to understand what is needed to reopen it. Those 10.000 more seats would be a treasure for the current capacity."
Between European dreams and structural challenges, Maradona's future is being played on two tables: the political one and the club's one. The city is waiting for answers.
