Naples – A thirteen-year-old from a "good family" was caught with a knife during checks by the Carabinieri in the nightlife of the historic center of Naples.
The episode, which occurred during the night in Piazza Dante, is only the latest in a series of interventions that have led to the identification of 65 young people, the seizure of 9 scooters and the reporting of several people, including an illegal parking attendant already known to the police.
The boy, resident in the Salvator Rosa area, was stopped together with a group of friends during an operation conducted by the soldiers of the Napoli Centro company, supported by the plainclothes operational unit.
To the order "Carabinieri”, the young people were taken by surprise: a knife fell to the ground, and the thirteen-year-old, initially frightened, tried to attribute the weapon to a friend. However, after a few minutes, he admitted to having it.
The knife, 14 centimetres long (6 of which are blade), was seized, and the minor was handed over to his mother, who was visibly mortified by the incident.

The Carabinieri have intensified controls in the historic center, patrolling the area with a deployment of forces that led to the identification of 65 youths and the control of 28 vehicles.
There was no shortage of fines for violations of the highway code: 41 fines issued and 13 young people stopped while driving scooter without a helmet. Among those reported, a 22-year-old found in possession of a 21-centimeter knife, a 24-year-old driving without a license and a 20-year-old on a stolen scooter, who did not stop at the military checkpoint.
Red zone and checks on premises: seizures and violations
The checks also involved the red zone of the Decumani, where one person was removed. In addition, 7 commercial establishments were inspected, with 28 prescriptions for serious health and hygiene violations and the seizure of 30 kilos of food not compliant with the regulations.
The operation has highlighted an increasingly young and often out of control nightlife, with an increase in the phenomenon of weapons among minors. The Carabinieri will continue to monitor the situation, but the episode of the thirteen-year-old with the knife is an alarm bell that requires further preventive and educational interventions.

It is a little worrying to see young people with weapons, especially a thirteen year old. It is important to do more checks and also educate the kids about these things. Let's hope that the situation improves and that there are fewer episodes of this kind.
