NAPLES – Another serious road accident in the capital city of Naples. During the night between Saturday and Sunday, around 2:00, a woman was hit by a car 4 Days SquareIn the neighborhood Vomero, right near the local train station Carabinieri.
According to the first reconstructions provided by witnesses, the car involved, with on board three boys, proceeded to sustained speed, losing control near the curve and running over the victim. The images of the accident were sent to the deputy of Green Left Alliance, Francesco Emilio Borrelli, which has raised yet another alarm about road safety in the city.
“A few hours after the death of a Peruvian citizen who was run over and killed in Miano, we record another accident at Vomero. Once again, speeding seems to be the cause of the accident – he declared Borrelli –. Non è accettabile che camminare per le strade di Napoli sia diventato un rischio quotidiano. They serve urgent measures to counter these episodes, such as speed bumps, increased police checks and video surveillance. Furthermore, severe penalties should be applied to those who drive without qualifications or under the influence of alcohol or drugs”.
The MP then pointed the finger at the changes to the Highway Code, considering them ineffective in urban centers. “The elimination of Restrictions for new drivers, who can now drive large-engined cars, and the restrictions imposed on mayors on the creation of pedestrian areas and ZTLs, are transforming the streets into dangerous circuits. The new Highway Code is proving to be a failure. We must act now to stop this trail of blood".
